Experience and areas of specialisation

Amy graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2002 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts (Politics Major).  Thereafter she began practising in Criminal Defence Law with a midsize firm where she ran their Criminal practice.  This saw Amy represent people in relation to a broad range of criminal and traffic offences and across all jurisdictions from the Magistrates Court through to the Supreme Court of Appeal.

In 2007 Amy moved into the role of Counsel Assisting the State Coroner and Deputy State Coroner, working for the Coroner’s Court of South Australia.  In that same year, she was promoted to Senior Counsel Assisting.  She remained in that role for the next 10 years and was Counsel Assisting in over 250 inquests during that time.  In this role, Amy dealt with a variety of matters including medical related deaths, deaths in custody (police custody, prison custody, legislative custody), suicides, motor vehicle accidents, workplace/industrial accidents, homicides, misadventure and many more.

Prior to joining Georgiadis Lawyers in January 2020, Amy spent two years working in Commercial Litigation for a national law firm honing her litigation skills from a different perspective.

Now working primarily in Criminal Law again, Amy has come full circle and is excited to be back in a role where guiding people through their most difficult times is the paramount objective.

Amy is a highly skilled and experienced advocate and is at ease representing her clients in the courtroom.  She understands the stress that people feel in having contact with the legal system and has a strong empathy for her clients.  In Amy’s view, being entrusted by someone to represent them at their worst time is a privilege and she treats it as such.  Amy’s kind nature is soothing to her clients and provides them with the reassurance they need in difficult times.  In stark contrast, her fearless attitude in the courtroom ensures that her clients’ best interests are always at the forefront of all proceedings.

Amy can assist with all Criminal and Traffic matters as well as Coronial matters and Commercial disputes.
