I’ve been arrested, what do I do?
If you have been arrested, you should speak with a Police officer immediately and request Police bail. If Police bail is refused, you should exercise your right to contact Georgiadis Lawyers to speak with a Criminal Lawyer in order to seek bail. At all times during and after your arrest, you have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions from Police. The only answers which you are legally required to provide is in relation to your name and address.
What is Bail?
Bail is where a person charged with an offence is granted permission by either the Police or the Courts to be released back into the community whilst the charges against them are still pending.
What is an Early Guilty Plea?
An Early Guilty Plea is when a person enters an early plea of Guilty to their charges and is subsequently entitled to a received a reduction in their sentence. You may be entitled to a discount of up to 40% off any sentence should you enter an early guilty plea.
Is the use of Cannabis legal?
It is illegal to keep, use, grow, sell or give away cannabis, cannabis oil or cannabis resin in South Australia. I've been found in possession of illicit drugs, what should I do?
If you are caught with illicit drugs, you should immediately contact a member of Georgiadis Lawyers Criminal Team to discuss your options moving forward.
What if someone claims that I have sexually assaulted them?
If there are allegations that you have sexually assaulted someone, you will either receive a Summons to appear in Court or you will be arrested. If you have received a Summons for Court or you have been arrested, you should contact a member of Georgiadis Lawyers Criminal Team immediately to discuss your options moving forward.
I've been pulled over by an RBT and was drinking before I drove, what should I do?
You are legally required to provide a specimen of breath upon request by Police. If you refuse to do so, you may be charged with Failure to Provide Specimen of Breath which carries with it a minimum one (1) year driving disqualification. Could I go to jail?
Some criminal offences carry penalties including imprisonment and many offences do not. The circumstances relating to your offending as well as your personal circumstances will have a bearing on whether a judge sends you to prison or imposes an alternative penalty. How much will a criminal lawyer cost me?
Georgiadis Lawyers offers a FIXED FEE for most criminal law services. A guilty plea in the Magistrates Court is fixed at $1,650.00 (inc GST). Negotiations with the Prosecution are fixed at $1,430.00 (inc GST). If you need a criminal lawyer to come to court with you to assist in a hearing (other than a guilty plea or submissions hearing) our fees are fixed at $400.00 (inc GST) for that appearance.
